Clinical System Upgrade:

We are delighted to announce that we upgraded our patient clinical system on Tuesday, 25th August 2020.  This upgrade will ensure we can more effectively communicate with other health care providers in the area which will significantly improve information flow from services such as hospitals, community nursing teams and other GP surgeries.  This will result in an improved patient experience.

 

URGENT INFORMATION REGARDING PRESCRIPTION RE-ORDERING:

As part of our clinical system change our online services system was also upgraded.  We are working as quickly as possible to get everyone back up and running with new online access.  If you had access previously you will shortly receive emails from us with your new login information.

Face mask exemptions:

Exemption guidance note

Re: Guidance note for patients requesting exemption letters

We are aware that some patients might be understandably anxious about the Government’s recent announcements around the use of face masks in various public settings.

GPs are unfortunately not in a position to provide individual risk assessments or letters for patients who feel that they should be exempt from wearing a face mask.

Gloucestershire Local Medical Committee has therefore prepared this guidance note as the statutory body that advises and supports all GPs and practice teams across both counties.

The government guidance on exemptions suggests there is no requirement for evidence for exemption therefore it is sufficient for an individual to self-declare this.

The responsibility for issuing exemptions lies with the transport provider not your GP. Similarly, practices are under no obligation to provide letters of support for anyone who does not fall under the list of exemptions but considers them to have another reason to be exempted.

Some peopledon't have to wear a face covering including for health, age or equality reasons. Some transport staff may not wear a face covering if it is not required for their job.

eConsult:

We are excited to announce that we have started using eConsult for our patients. The service will be available on the practice website and will allow patients to ask for advice about their health conditions, symptoms or request sick notes, GP letters and fit notes online. eConsult is available around the clock, day or night, and on the weekend. You can go to our practice website, click on the ‘Contact our doctors online’ button and tell us what you want advice or help for. Then you fill out a quick online form and the practice will get back to you by the end of the next working day with the next steps. This means you won’t need to come into the surgery unless you need a face to face appointment. You may receive a call, email or text from the surgery with next steps, or to let you know your prescription is ready to collect.

Please do not use this service to request medication, if you need to order medication you can call the prescription ordering line on: 0300 421 1215 or alternatively you can order your medication through your nominated pharmacy.

Coronavirus:

If you ask to see a GP at the surgery you will initially be offered a telephone appointment - A clinician will then call you and will book you in for a face to face appointment if required.  This will help us to minimise the amount of patients in the surgery and in the waiting room at any one time.

If you have an appointment at the surgery or need to collect something please knock on the door and a member of staff will answer ASAP.

Our childhood immunisation clinic is still continuing on a Tuesday Afternoon but they will be booked appointments instead of a walk in clinic.

Improved Access

As of November 1st 2019 we will be offering improved access appointments across the PCN (Kingholm, Gloucester Health Access Centre, Partners in health & Gloucester city health centre) GP appointments will be available 18:30 - 20:00 Monday-Friday, 08:00-12:00 Saturday & Limited appointments on Sunday.

Nurses appointments are available during usual core working hours 08:00-18:30 Monday-Friday.

These appointments are for anyone with a new acute problem, such as tonsillitis or an ear infection or a long-term condition that has become worse eg a chest condition – and needs treating urgently. If you have a complex ongoing problem, it is probably best to follow up with your usual GP who knows you best.

The doctor or nurse that sees you will need your consent to access your medical records for the purpose of the consultation. The Receptionist booking the appointment will check that you give consent. Without your consent, they will not be able to see you in this clinic.

Tests and Referrals to the Hospital will still be dealt with by your own surgery.

Gloucester Park Run

The surgery has signed up to be a park run practice. There is a park run every Saturday at 9am at Gloucester Park.

Involvement in this initiative will help practices:

  • Improve the health and wellbeing of practice staff
  • improve the health and wellbeing of patients, reducing the need for lifelong medication
  • Raise awareness amongst the parkrun community of services that practices provide
  • Help develop a local community and environment centred around wellness generation
  • Support the UK-wide movement to scale up social prescribing activities.

Relocation to Quayside House

We will be relocating in early 2021 to a new purpose built facility as part of the Gloucester Quayside regeneration development. This provides a unique opportunity to improve patient services and working conditions for staff, and address the inadequacies of the current accommodation to respond to the increasing population in the Gloucester locality.

Order your prescriptions over the phone

You can order your prescriptions over the phone from the NHS Prescription ordering line (POL), we hope this will be a convenient way in which our patients can order there repeat medication. The phone line will be open Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm and will cost a normal local rate.

Dr A Loader, sexual health clinic

Dr A Loader will be holding a Sexual health clinic on a Wednesday afternoon between 3-5pm, the clinic will include: a confidential sexual health screening service, Advice on all things sexual health, Emergency contraception, all types of contraception & referrals if required. These will be pre-booked appointments and clinics will be open to all patients even if they are not registered at the surgery.  This clinic is part of a wider network of clinics being made available throughout Gloucester.
